Sorbitol

Sorbitol

Sorbitol is considered to be a natural sugar alcohol derived from plant sources such as corn, rice and fruits. Due to its sweetening, humectant and stabilizing properties, it is widely used in various industries following the food and beverage industry where it serves as a low calorie sweetener for sugar free products like chewing gum, candies and diet beverages. Along with this, it is also widely used in the pharmaceutical sector as a carrier and stabilizer in syrups, tablets and cough medications. Additionally sorbitol also acts as moisturizing agent for the cosmetics and personal care industry in products such as toothpaste, lotions and skincare products.
